Remington 51 Prototype

This is the only Remington 51 I have seen with a number in this location.
It does not have the usual PA prefix of a production serial number.  If indeed it is a serial number, it would be from the 1919 production.  This gun has no proof marks, either inside or outside the frame or in the hammer well of the slide.
