The two line inscription on top of this gun can only be read in strong light:
THE REMINGTON ARMS-UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO., INC.
REMINGTON ILION WKS. ILION, N.Y. U.S.A.  PEDERSEN’S PATENTS PENDING.
I’ve seen other examples of Remington 51s where the inscription was quite legible.
