Figure 3. An open wetplate holder to be used with a dedicated wetplate camera back. This bookform holder is loaded from the back with the collodion emulsion facing the darkslide. A spring on the rear door holds the plate against the acrylic insert when closed. Plates may be loaded in either a horizontal or vertical orientation in this holder so a reversing back on the camera is not needed. Note the silver nitrate stains that have accumulated through use on the darkslide, insert, and wooden frame of the holder. |
