Tulum is not the largest or the most spectacular archaeological site on the Yucatán peninsula, but it is the most visited, probably because of its proximity to Cancún and its location on the Caribbean. The
guide book said we should get there early to avoid the crowds. Unfortunately, we arrived in the early afternoon. It was crawling with people, but the weather was great, with a very dramatic sky. I was worried
that it might rain the next day, so I was eager to go ahead and photograph the site.
