Don't Hear Anything/Not Listening

Incoming minds whipsnake
Across the alternate before
Flatlining at the Charex Bar & Grill
10 a m saturday morning
Beer and cigarettes a samadhi
All their own
Soles
Staring up from a brass rail
Straining at the lyrics
Locomotive
Jukebox rock and roll
But the words escape us
Trapped in an animal body
Unable to articulate desperation
Creation courts annihilation
Like a well-intentioned fool
While the skinny-assed waitress
Chews gum and smiles
Downright strange place
To wake up in
