                                 UV Exposure Unit

There are 12 two-foot UV tubes, controlled by the switch at the top right of the unit. The ballasts for the tubes are in the space above the lamps.  I drilled holes between the light chamber and the ballast chamber to allow heat from the lamps to rise up. There is a fan on the side of the unit, tied to the power switch, that blows air across the ballasts.  There are holes in the top of the unit to allow the heat to escape.  I have a picture article on how such a UV Exposure unit is built, with links giving complete details on construction. Note the legs at either end of the board the lamps are mounted on.  When the unit is disassembled, I can set the entire unit on the floor or work surface without damaging the tubes.  They also prevent me from accidentally shoving the contact frame into the lamps (which I have nearly done a half-dozen times). The interior is painted white.
