Bob Herbst The last two prints used to illustrate this article were made by Bob Herbst, a well-known pt./pd. printer who recently began working with carbon transfer. Bob has been experimenting with alternative substrates and the images reproduced here are printed on aluminum. Carbon prints on aluminum are capable of an extraordinary three-dimensional quality as the hard surface accentuates the differences in relief height. Bob is relatively new to carbon printing and is still working out the details of his process on aluminum so no details of his working procedures are included in this article.
