While there were enough design changes to avoid patent infringement, the influence of the 1900 Browning, which was the first .32 automatic pistol ever made, is obvious. The Melior and Bayard both had unique quick
disassembly methods which were superior to that of the Browning. The Browning and the Bayard shown here were .32 caliber, whereas the Melior is a .25, but a larger version of the Melior was also available in .32.
