MAB PA-15 slide top and Savage slide bottom

At top is the MAB PA-15 slide, and at bottom is the Savage slide, showing grooves for the barrel lugs, which are strikingly similar.  In his patent 985,847, Searle describes his action:  “These types of gun are distinguished in that the inertia of the projectile, or its resistance to rotation by the rifling in its passage through the barrel, is utilized to withhold the breech bolt from recoil until the projectile has left the barrel...”
