Date Stamps

The letters above the trigger guard are date stamps, supposedly used on guns assembled after regular production had ceased.  I’m not sure all the available information jives with this theory.  The Remington Society has a list of barrel code date stamps on their website that indicates the L stands for February and the N stands for 1922.
