Unblinking Eye
The Pieper Bayard Pistol

The barrel is integral with the receiver.  The tube that houses the recoil spring sits atop the barrel.  The Bayard utilizes the same spring steel extractor, with a little wedge welded onto the end, as the Model 1900 Browning.  The breech block is of a piece with the slide.  The slide represents a very complex piece of machining.  The upper portion that houses the spring and spring tube has been drilled out, and the rear of it has been plugged with a carefully machined piece of metal.
