It was Friday, 8 January 2010. Sybil and I got up early and ate breakfast, then walked from our hotel to the Ado bus station in Tulum, and caught the next bus to Cobá. The bus ride west took about an hour-and-a-half. The site is pretty much hacked out of the jungle, with a lot of the structures still half-covered with trees. We had to hike a kilometer or more to get to some of the ruins. There were bicycle-taxis for those who didn’t want to walk. |
