I use Fiebing’s leather dye that I buy from Tandy Leather. They carry applicators as well. I give it two coats, then let it dry overnight. Then I sometimes give it a third coat. I also dye the inside of the holster, using cotton swabs to get down into the small crevices. If you want a light color, you can dilute the dye with water, but it is hard to apply it evenly. For instance, if I want a light tan, I take a brown dye and dilute it 1:5 or more with water, then pour it in a pan and soak the holster in it. I do this before I wet form the holster, because with the leather flat it is easier to get an even color. |
